The world’s most famous puzzle, invented back in 1974 by Erno Rubik, is known for its simple, yet beautiful dexterity. Gamers and experts, with deep knowledge of complex algorithms, have time and again come up with many mind-boggling solutions to solve the Rubik’s Cube. Here is a simple 7 step solution to solve a Rubik’s Cube. Before hand, it is important to familiarize yourself with the simple terminologies so that the solution is easy for you to grasp.
Step 1: Solve the Top Cross of the Rubik’s Cube
Pick any of your favorite colors to start off. Your goal should be to solve that side’s four edge pieces. Each edge piece should match its colored side. It’s an easy step to follow and understand. If you think the edges are in the right place but the colors are reversed, the next step will solve this problem for you.
Step 2: Solve the Top Corners of the Rubik’s Cube
In the next step, you will solve the corners of the top side. Position the corner piece in the bottom layer such that it is just below the desired corner. Move the center, repeat the same sequence two to four times and the corner will be arranged properly.
Step 3: Solve the Middle Layer Edges of the Rubik’s Cube
Now, turn the cube over so that the side you were just working on is now on the bottom of the cube. There are two sets of moves that are normally used for this step of the solution. You will have to insert the edge piece from the top layer of the front side with certain moves. Afterwards, repeat the process and insert the top layer’s edge piece on the right side.
Step 4: Again, Solve the Top Cross of the Rubik’s Cube
It’s time to repeat the first step again. The trick is to solve this part without undoing the progress made until now. You have to get all of the top layer edge pieces the right color. In the next step, their positions will be adjusted automatically. You will have to repeat the sequence many times so that you have all the edge pieces on top of the Rubik’s Cube.
Step 5: Solve the Top Edges of the Rubik’s Cube
In the last step, you got a cross on the top layer as end result. In this step, all the edge pieces have to be placed into their proper positions. Turn the top layer of the cube until all the front edge pieces correspond to the front side. Make sure all the edge pieces are in place, or else change sequence. The front edge piece remains constant, while the other three rotate counter-clockwise.
Step 6: Position the Top Corners of the Rubik’s Cube
This step places all the corner pieces into the top layer of the Cube. Make sure each corner piece is in its right place. Keep the unsolved layer on top, and rotate the cube to find a corner piece that is in correct position. Rotate the remaining three corner pieces in top layer. Keep the front right corner fixed. Repeat moves till corners are correctly placed.
Step 7: Solve the Top Corners of the Rubik’s Cube
That’s it! The final step of the puzzle! It’s a tricky step, and if it goes wrong, you have to start all over again. Keep the unsolved layer on top, and find a corner piece that needs to be ‘flipped’. That means the top color doesn’t match top layer. Hold the cube so that that corner is right in front of you. While you do the move sequence, you will see the other layers are getting disturbed, but don’t worry, it will come back. Rotate the top layer clockwise, until you have another corner that needs to be flipped. Similarly, find all such corners, and flip them. Lastly, turn the top layer, and the puzzle is complete!! You have just solved your very own Rubik’s Cube!!
